Privacy Policy

Effective October 4, 2026. Applies to the website at news-spectrum.org and to the NewsSpectrum apps for Android and iPhone (com.ringmast4r.newsspectrum). The iPhone app, The News Spectrum, is published on the App Store by Net Works Lab LLC; the Android app is published on Google Play by Ringmast4r.

The short version

NewsSpectrum has no accounts, no logins and no user profiles. We do not ask who you are, and we do not collect, store or sell personal information. The apps use the network only to read our public news API; the Android app requests one permission, internet access, and the iPhone app requests none.

What the service does

NewsSpectrum aggregates publicly available news headlines from third-party publishers, groups articles covering the same story, and links out to the original source. We do not host, republish or paywall other publishers' articles. Each headline links directly to the publisher.

Data we collect

The Android and iPhone apps collect nothing. They have no analytics, no advertising SDK, no crash reporting and no tracking of any kind. They store no personal data on your device beyond ordinary app preferences, and they send nothing about you to us. Their only network activity is anonymous read-only requests to api.news-spectrum.org to fetch headlines.

The website collects no personal information either. Our servers keep standard short-lived request logs, which may include an IP address, for security and reliability. The site serves advertising through Google AdSense and uses Google Analytics; both may set cookies and process data under their own policies. You can opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings or through the NAI opt-out page.

Data we share

We do not sell, rent or trade user data, and we share no data with third parties for advertising or any other purpose beyond the website advertising and analytics services named above. The apps share nothing at all.

Third-party content

Headlines, summaries and links come from third-party news organisations. We do not control and are not responsible for the accuracy, content, advertising or privacy practices of sites you open from NewsSpectrum. Once you follow a link, that publisher's privacy policy governs.

Children

NewsSpectrum is a general news reader and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Your rights

Because we hold no personal data, there is no account to access, correct, export or delete, and no personal information to opt out of the sale of. If you are in the EU, the UK, California or another jurisdiction with data protection law, that remains true: requests under GDPR, UK GDPR or the CCPA would find nothing on file. Cookies set by the website's advertising and analytics providers can be cleared or blocked in your browser settings or through the opt-out links above.

Data deletion

No account is created and no personal data is stored, so there is nothing to delete. Deleting the app removes its local preferences from your device.

Security

All traffic between the app, the website and our API is encrypted in transit over HTTPS.

Copyright

All article content is owned by the respective publishers. NewsSpectrum operates as an aggregation and linking service. Copyright concerns about an article should go to the publisher that produced it. A publisher that would rather not be included can ask for its feed to be removed at the address below; we remove it within seven days.

Changes

We may update this policy. Changes take effect when posted here, and the effective date above will change with them.
